Tactical Ninja Sword

If you've come across this article, it's likely because you're interested in purchasing the BudK Secret Agent Tactical Sword from Amazon.com. I've had the sword for quite some time now, and thought It may be helpful to others to write a brief review of this product.
The handle is basically a bunch of rope wrapped around the extended metal of the sword, which isn't an ideal handle if you're going "slashing and dashing", but it certainly looks cool. On the bright side, it's a full tang sword, which helps provide durability to the sword's overall performance.

To begin with, when I received the sword in the mail and pulled it out of its packaging, I was in awe. The sword certainly exceeded my expectations in the way it looks. It has a great look to it, and a unique-looking handle which, sadly, doesn't feel too comfortable while holding the sword.

The blade itself looks amazing, and actually comes pretty sharp for a sword priced at under $20. It's fairly thin, which gives the sword a lighter feel, but sacrifices effectiveness. The sword is a bit flimsy, so it can't be used for hacking down anything too sturdy, else I fear it might break.

Overall, this sword gets 4 Stars as my rating, and the Amazon average is about the same.

But, if you're asking whether or not you should buy this, I say yes. A decent sword for under $20? How could you go wrong?

Here's the most helpful positive review from Tomas: (5 Star) Nice Knife
"Nice knife. I have gone through a number of knifes in my day and this is a good one for the price. Smooth soft finish, good weight and the spring assist works well. Overall it feels sturdy and durable. Helpful tip: with inexpensive knifes, I usually remove all large screws and use [Loctite], thread locking solution, to insure screws never come loose. This will prolong the life of your knife. Hope this helps."

And here's the most helpful critical review from Dana: (1 Star) The Pink One's Don't Lock Open
"I purchased 3 of these, a black, a camo and a pink. The pink does not lock open (which is very dangerous!) I exchanged the pink for another pink one and it had the same problem! The other 2 knives are great. I am now sending back my second pink one, to get another color."

An AccuSharp 001 Knife Sharpener Review

The AccuSharp 001 Knife Sharpener is definitely one of the best knife sharpener in the market today. Versatile and easy enough for any person to use safely, it lets the user sharpen various blade tools. It can be used on serrated and straight knives, cleavers as well as axes. Its ergonomic, unique design guards the user's fingers and it has a dependable tungsten carbide blade that is diamond-honed, offering a precision edge on tools.

A sharp blade makes kitchen work easier to be done safely and quickly. The AccuSharp knife sharpener allows the user to sharpen any blade within ten seconds or so. Sharpening is done in a mess- and oil-free manner, with no need of handling awkward, rough stones or guessing at angles. Its easy-to-use design makes it an excellent tool to have on hand in personal and professional kitchen. Additionally, it is a great choice for fishermen, hunters, craftspeople and gardeners. It has an ergonomic, unique handle that can fit neatly in any hand, accommodating both left- and right-handed users. It also has a full-length guard to protect fingers in the course of the sharpening process.

To start the sharpening process, the user simply places the knife on a counter or table top, with the cutting edge facing up. The knife is held securely with one hand. The sharpener's 'V' notch is set to straddle the blade, with the thumb used to apply light pressure as the user draws it down past the blade's point.

When the AccuSharp is first used on a certain blade, a number of passes may be needed to ensure that the knife's cutting angle conforms to the sharpener's angle. As soon as the angle is gotten, it takes just two or three brief passes to sharpen the knife. This means sharpening will fit into the user's busy schedule rather than interfering with it.

To facilitate years of efficient use, AccuSharp's sharpening blades are made using diamond-honed tungsten carbide, which happens to be among the hardest known materials. Even though the toughest blades eventually start showing wear, the sharpener's unique design enables reversal of the blade in order to double its lifespan. Most user have reported an average of between 5 and 10 years between blade replacements, meaning it's easy to ensure that the sharpener will be ready for use whenever needed.

Users are advised not to hold the sharpener at a steep angle to the blade being sharpened just to protect the hand. This is what the hand guard is there for. The sharpener's body should be held slightly above the blade of the knife. The number of times the sharpener is drawn over the knife depends on how blunt the knife is. After 2 or 3 strokes, the user can try cutting a tomato to test it. If it cuts easily and simply the job is done, but if not, the user can try several more strokes.

The AccuSharp does not rust, and can be easily cleaned in a dishwasher or with soap and water. It is definitely the best knife sharpener in the market.

The Survival Knife In Focus

Technically, survival knives can be defined as knives that are in good condition. Certainly, possessing a knife gives you a far greater probability of braving the elements, compared to not having one. Nonetheless, when most people speak of "survival knives", they are referring to particular types of knives that are associated with that phrase. These knives feature hollow handles intended to store numerous emergency supplies, and the kind of hunting blades that are found on Bowie knives.

Source: Amazon.com
Typically, survival knife handles are coarse, to offer a superior grip. Frequently, the handle tips contain floating compasses, which make up some of the emergency supplies. The remainder of the emergency kits are stored within the handles themselves. Survivalists can open up the handles to access a range of helpful items. For example, many survival knives hold fishing lines, matches, wire saws, fish hooks, water purification pills, needles and cotton, bits of flint and medical supplies. Notwithstanding, the majority of soldiers and survivalists customize the supplies they carry to fit their particular requirements.

Many knife aficionados regard survival knives with hollow handles as gimmicks, instead of helpful tools. However, some people report that they feel safer, when they take these knives with them on camping trips. Normally, these knives have smooth blades for food preparation, or stabbing animals. They have jagged edges for cutting tree branches as well. Furthermore, a survival knife can have a curved blade, to cut rope or open aluminium cans. Often, to prevent glare, black matte finish is applied to the blades of these knives. Some survival gurus say that stainless steel knives should be avoided, because flint can not be used with them to start fires.

A survival knife could be the difference between life and death. Nonetheless, it could be harmful, if you use it incorrectly. One fundamental safety procedure is to keep the blade away from the body when slicing. Stay alert to everything that is happening, and make sure that you grasp the handle firmly. Also, check that the object you are slicing is secure, to avoid any accidents. Moreover, be careful not to attempt to catch the knife if it falls, or run while holding it. If you are shutting a folding knife, use both hands. Finally, before putting the knife down, always put it back in its' sheath.

Rather than purchasing a traditional survival knife, some survivalists advise purchasing a small survival kit and a good quality hunting knife. Other experts say that traditional survival knives, with well stocked handles, are more portable than separate hunting knives and emergency supplies. Notwithstanding, a hollow knife handle reduces the tang of the blade, which sacrifices strength. Also, if you misplace the knife, you could be without some crucial pieces of kit. This is why it is best to store other important supplies separately. All experts concur that the handle and blade on a knife are the most important features. Furthermore, it is crucial to protect the blade from the elements and keep it as sharp as possible.
